Our former PhD student Héctor López-Laguna has received the Extraordinary Doctorate Award for his thesis entitled “Simple Biochemistry for Complex Protein-Based Materials.”
This thesis presents a novel protein self-assembly technology based on divalent cations, and explores its biotechnological and biomedical applications. It was submitted in 2023 as part of the Biotechnology PhD program at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Part of the research was conducted at the University of Glasgow, in an international collaboration with Prof. Matthew J. Dalby.
